Valerie Yasner

Val is a food enthusiast. As a former practicing clinician and as the daughter of an insulin dependent diabetic she understands first hand the critical relationship between healthy eating and establishing and maintaining diabetic health.

Valerie enjoys cooking and has a small scale baking business along with teaching healthy cooking classes. Most of her time in the food world is spent in support of Hazon, a Jewish food justice and environmental (not for profit) organization. She coordinates a community supported agriculture (CSA) program in Southern New Jersey. As Co Chair of Hazon’s Philly Working Group she helps coordinate the other Hazon CSA’s in the Delaware Valley region. She studied Nutrition at La Salle University.

Dr. Yasner’s previous profession was as an Endodontist (Dental Specialist) where she enjoyed both private practice and professorship at the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Dental Medicine.

Most recently she has combined her interests in health and patient care with her knowledge of food, nutrition, and cooking to encourage good health for individuals, our community, and our planet.

Also, as an exercise enthusiast Val enjoys cycling and has participated in many Hazon bike rides including the New York Labor Day ride, the Israel ride, and most recently the California ride. She is shown her flanked by her daughters in 2010’s Labor Day ride.
