Charles Catania was born and raised in Staten Island, NY.  He received his bachelors of Arts degree at Hartwick College, Oneonta, NY in 2000, where he majored in Biology.  His senior thesis focused on chromosomal analysis of salamanders. After graduating from Hartwick he accepted a position as the coordinator for the “22q and You” Center at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, under Dr. Elaine Zackai in clinical Genetics.  He began his medical school career at The American University of the Caribbean, in St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles in 2001.  He completed his Family Medicine residency at Underwood Hospital, in Wood bury NJ.  He served as his class President from 2001 – 2003, and was the resident trustee to the Board of Directors for the New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians from 2008 – 2010.  He is also a member of The American Academy of Family Physicians, and has served as the Chief resident delegate for NJ at the AAFP Resident Congress in 2008.  He has published recent articles for the NJAFP Perspectives magazine in 2009 and 2010 about family medicine and the changing scope of healthcare. He has been in Private Practice with Dr. Jose Camacho in Thorofare NJ for the last year.
